MMUs under PM-JANMAN benefits over 78000 people belonging from PVTGs
Raipur, August 17
As the nation is celebrating 80th Independence Day, Mobile Medical Units (MMUs) operational across Chhattisgarh under Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM JANMAN) has achieved a significant milestone by offering healthcare facility to over 78000 people belonging from Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs).
In less than eight months, the PM-JANMAN healthcare programme in Chhattisgarh has managed to bring essential healthcare services closer to PVTGs, said Chetan Sharma, project director of the private service provider firm operating MMU ambulances.
A key achievement has been reaching over 78,000 people belonging from PVTGs through the programme and taking healthcare services directly to communities that often face significant geographical and accessibility challenges, he added.
According to Sharma, so far over 10,000 healthcare camps have been conducted and more than 1.8 lakh registrations completed. Similarly, over 2.2 lakh consultations have been delivered and more than 3.6 lakh diagnostic investigations conducted. Likewise, over 75 lakh medicines have been distributed under this programme, which marked completion of over 82,000 follow-ups.
The initiative is being delivered through 57 Mobile Medical Units, each with a dedicated team of an MBBS doctor, nurse and a laboratory technician, across 18 districts, he said.
The rapid progress of PM-JANMAN in Chhattisgarh adds another feather into the success story of this journey, demonstrating how proven field experience, mobile healthcare infrastructure and technology can come together to take quality healthcare closer to India’s most vulnerable communities.
Notably, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai had flagged-off the 57 MMUs on December 31 last year.
