Athletes Begin Arriving in Chhattisgarh for Khelo India Tribal Games

Athletes have begun arriving in Chhattisgarh to participate in the Khelo India Tribal Games. This morning, a 14-member contingent of weightlifters from Arunachal Pradesh reached Raipur, comprising 13 athletes and one support staff member.
Upon their arrival at the Swami Vivekananda Airport in Raipur, the athletes were greeted with a warm heart-felt welcome. Amidst colorful Raut Nacha (traditional folk dance) performances, officials from the Department of Sports and Youth Welfare and the Sports Authority of India (SAI) presented roses to all the participants. A large number of athletes from various states and Union Territories are expected to arrive in Raipur on March 23.
In a first for the country, the Khelo India Tribal Games are being hosted across three cities in Chhattisgarh: Raipur, Ambikapur, and Jagdalpur. Nearly 3,000 tribal athletes from across the nation will showcase their talent during the event. From March 25 to April 3, the people of Chhattisgarh will witness thrilling competitions in seven sporting disciplines. The event will feature men’s and women’s categories in Hockey, Football, Wrestling, Athletics, Swimming, Archery, and Weightlifting.
