Baba Guru Ghasidas preached social harmony for humanity: CM Sai

Raipur, December 19

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai on Thursday attended the 269th birth anniversary programme of Baba Guru Ghasidas Ji at the Government Model Post-Matric Scheduled Caste Boys’ Hostel campus in Pensionbada here. Chief Minister paid homage to Baba Guru Ghasidas and recalled his ideals.

Addressing the gathering, Shri Sai said Baba Guru Ghasidas, through his enduring message of “Manakhe-Manakhe Ek Saman” (all human beings are equal), showed humanity the path of social harmony, equality and brotherhood. He added that his philosophy continues to inspire efforts towards a society free from discrimination and division.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister announced that the seats at the Government Post-Matric Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Hostel at Pensionbada will be increased to 300.

Chief Minister Shri Sai said he had the opportunity to attend Baba Guru Ghasidas Jayanti programmes every year in different capacities—as an MLA, MP, Union Minister of State and now as Chief Minister—but celebrating the occasion among students gave him special joy and satisfaction.

He noted that at a time when society was grappling with inequality and social divisions, the arrival of Baba Guru Ghasidas in Chhattisgarh was a matter of pride for the state. By following the path of truth and non-violence, he said, the saint gave society a new direction.

Chief Minister said the Chhattisgarh government is continuously working for the state’s all-round development by imbibing the teachings of Baba Guru Ghasidas. Over the past 25 years, he said, Chhattisgarh has made significant progress in education, with students now studying in premier national institutions such as IITs, AIIMS and National Law Universities.

Referring to recruitment reforms, Shri Sai said action has been taken against those found guilty in PSC-related corruption cases, and transparent recruitment processes are ensuring that youth move ahead on the basis of merit. He added that the new industrial policy includes special provisions for entrepreneurs from Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.

Addressing the programme, Skill Development Minister Shri Guru Khushwant Saheb said the birth anniversary of Baba Guru Ghasidas would be truly meaningful only if people imbibe his teachings in their daily lives. He called upon the youth to move forward with confidence while remaining steadfast on the path of truth, and said the state government is placing special emphasis on skill development through training in emerging fields such as robotics, drone technology and artificial intelligence.

The programme also featured a traditional Panthi dance performance by students of the Government Model Post-Matric Scheduled Caste Boys’ Hostel, which drew wide appreciation. Rajmahant Shri Banshi Lal Kurre, Shri Sandeep Suryavanshi, along with a large number of students and other dignitaries were also present.
