Zero Tolerance on Corruption: Deputy Chief Minister Shri Arun Sao Takes Firm Action, Three Engineers Suspended with Immediate Effect

Acting decisively under the State Government’s policy of zero tolerance towards corruption, one Executive Engineer and two SDOs of the Public Works Department have been suspended with immediate effect following their alleged involvement in a corruption case and subsequent arrest.

In connection with irregularities in the construction of the Nelsonar–Kodoli–Mirtul–Gangalur road in Bijapur district, a criminal case was registered at the Gangalur Police Station. During the course of investigation, their involvement in the matter came to light, following which disciplinary action was initiated. Accordingly, the Executive Engineer of the Public Works Department, Sukma Division, Shri Harnarayan Patra; the Sub-Divisional Officer, Sub-Division No. 1, Bijapur, Shri Pramod Singh Tanwar; and the Sub-Divisional Officer, Setu Sub-Division, Jagdalpur, Shri Santosh Das, have been suspended with immediate effect.

The suspension orders were issued today from the Mantralaya after due approval by Deputy Chief Minister and Public Works Minister Shri Arun Sao. During the period of suspension, the headquarters of all three officers have been fixed at the Office of the Chief Engineer, Nava Raipur. As per rules, they will be entitled to subsistence allowance during the suspension period.
