Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai today attended and inaugurated the ‘Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas’ Workshop held at the Convention Hall in Civil Lines, the capital Raipur.
Chief Minister Shri Sai said that last year, the ‘Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas’ workshop was also successfully held in the same auditorium and was celebrated with great enthusiasm across the entire state. Union Minister Shri Mansukh Mandaviya participated in a 10-kilometer long procession organized in Jashpur, which showcased the attractive traditional attire, cuisine, jewelry, and culture of the tribal community. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi praised this initiative and suggested that such events should be organized annually throughout the country.
The Chief Minister noted that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi honored the glorious legacy of tribal heroes by deciding to celebrate ‘Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas’ on the 150th birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda. He also mentioned the contribution of former Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee, stating that he took a historic step towards the honor and upliftment of the tribal community by first forming the Ministry of Tribal Affairs.
Chief Minister Shri Sai informed that rapid development work is being carried out in Chhattisgarh under the PM JANMAN Yojana and the Pradhan Mantri Dharti Aaba Gram Utkarsh Yojana under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Modi. Under the JANMAN Yojana, 2,500 kilometers of roads have been constructed and 32,000 Pradhan Mantri Awas (houses) have been sanctioned in the state.
He further mentioned that a Tribal Museum has been constructed in Nava Raipur, based on the 14 tribal revolts of Chhattisgarh and the life of Amar Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh, which is a major initiative by our government to preserve the heritage of tribal history and pride. The Chief Minister urged academicians and intellectuals to include tribal pride and history in educational curricula, so that the new generation can draw inspiration from the rich legacy of their ancestors.
Higher Education Minister Shri Tankram Verma said that this workshop will prove to be a milestone in highlighting the rich traditions and history of our tribal society, as well as in tackling future challenges. Its objective is to formulate a solid strategy for the upliftment of the tribal community and to connect them with education, health, livelihood, and employment.
Minister of Tribal Development and Agriculture, Shri Ram Vichar Netam, said that the framework of this workshop will be prepared by all the intellectuals present, and the state government will take concrete steps in that direction. He noted that ‘Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas’ was successfully organized in almost all districts of the state last year, and efforts will be made to celebrate it in a more effective and grand manner this year.
Minister of Forest and Climate Change, Shri Kedar Kashyap, said that more than 70,000 people participated in last year’s ‘Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas’ program. This event sent a message across the country that Chhattisgarh has taken the work of tribal society’s upliftment to the masses. We have received this rich heritage thanks to our great tribal heroes, and it is the collective responsibility of all of us to preserve it.
Shri Yogesh Bapat, General Secretary of the All India Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram, said that the tribal community is a self-reliant society, and it is our collective duty to restore its pride. He mentioned that Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai is particularly dedicated to the upliftment of the tribal community. He urged that through this workshop, concrete schemes should be prepared that help further elevate the pride and self-respect of the tribal society.
Also present on the occasion were Dr. S. Bharathidasan (Secretary, Higher Education Department), Dr. Saransh Mittar (Commissioner, Tribal Development Department), Shri Vijay Dayaram K. (Director, Employment and Training), Vice-Chancellors of various universities, Principals of leading colleges, and representatives of various institutions.
