Centering Plates Supported Rashmi’s Dreams… Rashmi from Birra Village Becomes Self-Reliant Woman
Raipur, October 16
Rashmi Kahra, a woman from Birra village in the Bamhanideeh Janpad Panchayat of Janjgir-Champa district, has proved that with high morale and opportunity, a story of success can be written even from the village soil. By supplying centering plates for the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural) and other construction projects in the village, she is now earning a regular income of ₹20,000 per month. This success came through the Bihan Scheme and the Self-Help Group (SHG), which completely changed the direction of her life.
Smt. Rashmi Kahra shared that previously, her family’s financial condition was very weak. It was difficult to manage both the children’s education and household expenses. She then gathered the courage to join the Rani Laxmi Bai Self-Help Group. With the support of the group and the guidance of the Bihan scheme, she found the path to self-reliance. With the help of the Village Organization, she took a loan of ₹25,000 from the Community Investment Fund. With this amount, she prepared 1000 square feet of centering plates, which are being rented out for the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and other construction works. This is how her regular monthly income reached ₹20,000 today. She says life was very difficult before, but her confidence grew after joining the Bihan group. “Now I earn myself, I educate my children, and I am inspiring others too.” For this, she expressed her gratitude and thanks to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai.
According to her fellow women in the village, Rashmi’s success has now inspired many other women to join SHGs and become active in the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and other livelihood activities. The District Officer of the Bihan scheme states that Rashmi’s achievement is proof that if a woman is given opportunity, training, and support, she can become the economic backbone not just of her family but of society as well. Today, Rashmi’s name is taken with pride in Birra village. The family that once struggled financially has now become an inspiration to others. Truly, this is an example of the flight that emerged from Bihan, which brought recognition of self-reliance to an ordinary village woman.
