The Chhattisgarh Institute of Medical Sciences (CIMS), Bilaspur has set a new record in academic expansion this year. Last year, the institute had a total of 68 approved MD and MS seats, whereas in the current session, with an addition of 21 new seats, the total number has increased to 89. The admission process for these seats is currently underway.<\/p>\n
Hence, lately the Physiology Department and the TB & Chest Department have received approval to begin new MD programmes with 4\u20134 seats each. Significant progress has also been made toward starting new MD courses at CIMS. The state government has issued the Essentiality Certificate for both subjects.
\n*Process Accelerated for Restoration of Recognition of the TB & Chest Department*
\nEarlier, the TB & Chest Department had been derecognised by the National Medical Commission (NMC) because the department head, Prof. Dr. Puneet Bhardwaj, had passed away, resulting in the absence of professor-level faculty.<\/p>\n
Dean Dr. Ramanesh Murti submitted a request to the NMC seeking reconsideration in the matter. Subsequently, the government promoted Dr. Prateek Kumar and appointed him as Professor, bringing the department back in line with NMC standards. Based on this, the Essentiality Certificate for the department has now been obtained.<\/p>\n
*Increase in Seats in the Medicine Department*
\nThe government has also increased the capacity of the MD course in the Medicine Department. Earlier, the department had 8 approved seats, which have now been increased to 13. The Essentiality Certificate has also been issued for this department.<\/p>\n
*Final Process Begins with the University and NMC*
\nThe CIMS administration is now submitting applications to the Ayush & Health Sciences University for affiliation of these three departments\u2014Physiology, TB & Chest, and Medicine.<\/p>\n
Once the university grants affiliation, an application will be sent to the NMC for final approval.
\nThese new courses and the increase in seats will not only enhance the academic capacity of the institution but also provide more opportunities for medical students in the state to pursue specialisation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
