In a significant move to promote medical education and create a transparent, accessible, and student-friendly path for the next generation of qualified doctors, the Government of Chhattisgarh has introduced major reforms in undergraduate medical admissions. These reforms have been rolled out under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai and the guidance of Health Minister Shri Shyam Bihari Jaiswal. The newly framed rules are being seen as a historic step forward in the field of medical education in the state.<\/p>\n
New amendments have been made to the counselling guidelines for admission into undergraduate medical courses (MBBS, BDS, and BPT) for the academic year 2025. As per directives issued by the Health Department, several important changes have been implemented in this year\u2019s counselling process to ensure greater convenience and transparency for students.<\/p>\n
*Change in Priority Criteria*<\/p>\n
In private medical colleges, for seats under the Management and NRI quota that remain vacant in reserved categories (SC, ST, OBC), priority will now be given to domicile candidates of Chhattisgarh.<\/p>\n
*Relaxation in Bond Service Period*<\/p>\n
The previously mandatory 2-year bond service requirement has now been reduced to a minimum of 1 year.<\/p>\n
*Entire Counselling Process Goes Online*<\/p>\n
The entire counselling process will now be conducted completely online. From seat allotment to final admission, all procedures will be managed digitally.<\/p>\n
*Simplified Income Certificate Norms for OBC Category*<\/p>\n
To ease the submission of income certificates for candidates from the OBC category, the related documentation norms have been simplified.<\/p>\n
*Vacant EWS Seats to Go to General Category*<\/p>\n
If seats under the EWS category remain vacant, they will now be allotted to eligible candidates from the Unreserved (General) category.<\/p>\n
*Registration Facility in Every Round*<\/p>\n
Candidates will be allowed to register afresh in each round of counselling, ensuring broader access and flexibility in the admission process.<\/p>\n
The Department of Medical Education has clarified that as per the revised rules, the counselling process will begin from July 30, 2025.
