Considering the demand for various types of chemical fertilizers during the Kharif season 2025, the Chhattisgarh government has not only ensured timely and robust arrangements but is also continuously monitoring the supply, storage, and distribution of fertilizers. As a result, the situation regarding fertilizer stock and distribution remains stable in the state. To address the shortage of DAP (Di-Ammonium Phosphate), the state government has ensured the availability of alternative fertilizers such as NPK, Super Phosphate, and Nano DAP, prioritizing the interests of farmers. So far, 12.27 lakh metric tons of various types of fertilizers have been stocked in the state to ensure timely and adequate availability to farmers during the Kharif season.<\/p>\n
For Kharif 2025, the target for total fertilizer distribution in Chhattisgarh was initially set at 14.62 lakh metric tons, including:<\/p>\n
Urea: 7.12 lakh MT<\/p>\n
DAP: 3.10 lakh MT<\/p>\n
NPK: 1.80 lakh MT<\/p>\n
Potash: 60,000 MT<\/p>\n
Super Phosphate: 2 lakh MT<\/p>\n
Currently, 12.27 lakh metric tons of fertilizers have been stored. Due to reduced DAP supply, the distribution target was revised, increasing the target for alternative fertilizers like NPK and SSP (Single Super Phosphate) by 4.62 lakh metric tons, raising the overall distribution goal for the 2025 Kharif season to 17.18 lakh metric tons.<\/p>\n
So far, 5.63 lakh metric tons of urea have been stored and 3.76 lakh metric tons distributed. An additional 1.86 lakh metric tons of urea is currently available for farmers. It’s worth noting that urea is applied to paddy crops in three phases:<\/p>\n
At sowing or transplantation \u2013 30% of the recommended amount<\/p>\n
After 3\u20134 weeks, at tillering stage<\/p>\n
After 7\u20138 weeks, at the panicle initiation stage<\/p>\n
Urea is thus required in a phased manner until September, and the state has ensured timely phased supply accordingly.<\/p>\n
Recognizing the national shortage in DAP imports, the state government proactively promoted alternative fertilizers. The targets were increased to:<\/p>\n
NPK: 4.90 lakh MT<\/p>\n
Super Phosphate: 3.53 lakh MT<\/p>\n
Currently, NPK is overstocked by 11,000 MT, and Super Phosphate by 54,000 MT, which together compensate for the phosphorus content equivalent to 23,600 MT of DAP.<\/p>\n
As per the supply plan, Chhattisgarh is expected to receive 2.33 lakh metric tons of fertilizers in July, including:<\/p>\n
Urea: 1.25 lakh MT<\/p>\n
DAP: 48,850 MT<\/p>\n
NPK: 34,380 MT<\/p>\n
Potash: 10,000 MT<\/p>\n
Super Phosphate: 76,000 MT<\/p>\n
By the end of July, DAP stock in the state is expected to reach 1.95 lakh MT. To further mitigate any DAP shortage, an additional 25,000 MT of Super Phosphate and 40,000 MT of NPK are planned for storage. Additionally, 1 lakh bottles of Nano DAP are being stored in the cooperative sector, which will help meet the demand equivalent to 25,000 metric tons of conventional DAP.<\/p>\n
Since April, the Chhattisgarh government has been actively promoting alternative fertilizers. Posters and pamphlets have been distributed to all cooperative societies and procurement centers, educating farmers on using substitutes for DAP. Agricultural scientists and officials from the Agriculture Department have also trained farmers during the \u201cViksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan\u201d on the scientific use of NPK, Super Phosphate, and Nano DAP.
