Chhattisgarh has taken a significant initiative towards achieving a clean environment and net zero emissions. Speaking on the occasion of a historic tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing for the production of compressed biogas from urban solid waste between the Chhattisgarh Biofuel Development Authority (CBDA), GAIL India Limited, Bharat Petroleum, and six municipal corporations, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai expressed his delight. He congratulated the organizations involved, stating that this step will give Chhattisgarh a new identity in cleanliness, energy production, and sustainable development.<\/p>\n
The Chief Minister emphasized that today marks another important milestone in Chhattisgarh’s development. Under sustainable planning, the state is rapidly advancing towards the production of compressed biogas from urban solid waste. <\/p>\n
He highlighted Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s Swachh Bharat Mission as a transformative initiative that heightened public awareness about cleanliness. The establishment of these plants in urban areas will not only fulfill the dream of clean and beautiful cities but also address energy needs by turning waste into energy. <\/p>\n
The Chief Minister urged all involved organizations to complete the plant establishment within the stipulated time.<\/p>\n
Key Highlights of the MoU<\/p>\n
Production Capacity: The project aims to utilize approximately 350 metric tons of urban solid waste and 500 metric tons of surplus biomass daily to produce biofuel.
\nDaily Output: Around 70 metric tons of compressed biogas (CBG) will be produced daily from six plants.
\nInvestment: The project will see an investment of around \u20b9600 crore, fully funded by GAIL and BPCL.
\nRevenue: The state will generate approximately \u20b96 crore annually in GST revenue from the production and sale of biogas.

Municipal Corporations of Ambikapur, Raigarh, Korba, Bilaspur, Rajnandgaon, and Dhamtari signed agreements with CBDA, GAIL, and BPCL.
