Voting in urban bodies will be through EVMs, make voters aware to vote more and more – Commissioner Ajay Singh

Chhattisgarh State Election Commissioner Shri Ajay Singh visited Sarguja to take stock of the pre-election preparations under the general elections of urban bodies and three-tier panchayats 2025.

He took a meeting of the senior officials of the district regarding the election in the Collectorate meeting room and gave necessary directions. On this occasion, the Secretary of the Commission Dr. Sarveshwar Narendra Bhure and Nodal Officer Municipality and Panchayat Election (Police) Shri O.P. Pal were also present.

State Election Commissioner Shri Ajay Singh told the officials of the district that the preparations you have made in the strong room, counting place, polling stations are good. He said that there is a need for publicity regarding EVM machines, because this time the voter will have to vote twice in the same machine for the mayor and the councilor. He asked the voters to be made aware by providing more and more information about the EVM machine. He directed the officials to ensure strict compliance of the code of conduct and to quickly resolve the cases of violation of the code of conduct within the time limit. He appreciated the election preparations being done by the district administration and gave necessary directions to conduct the urban body and three-tier panchayat elections smoothly and peacefully.

State Election Commission Secretary Dr. Sarveshwar Narendra Bhure said that voting will be done through EVM machine for Mayor, President, Councilor. Make the voters aware by doing demo regarding the EVM machine. Ensure better facilities are provided to the officers and employees and police force engaged in election work who are voting through postal ballot. Divisional Commissioner Shri Narendra Dugga apprised about the election preparations being done by the district administration and said that the election work will be completed peacefully. At the same time, Inspector General of Police Shri Ankit Garg gave information regarding the security arrangements. The Collector provided information regarding the necessary preparations for smooth conduct and peaceful conduct of urban body and three-tier panchayat elections.
Additional Collector and Deputy District Election Officer Shri Sunil Nayak provided information about the district regarding the election in the meeting. He told that there are a total of 1 lakh 34 thousand 277 voters in urban bodies and 5 lakh 42 thousand 354 voters in three-tier panchayats. There are 173 polling stations in urban bodies, out of which 10 are sensitive polling stations. While there are 1099 polling stations for three-tier panchayat elections, out of which 77 are sensitive and 12 are very sensitive polling stations. He informed about the necessary arrangements, arrangement of officers and employees, security arrangements, EVM, status of urban body nominations, status of panchayat election nominations, strong room, commissioning site, counting center, arrangement of ballot paper printing, election training program, route chart, vehicle arrangement for smooth and peaceful conduct of general elections of urban bodies and three-tier panchayats.
In the meeting, Sarguja Divisional Commissioner Shri Narendra Dugga, IG Sarguja Shri Ankit Garg, Collector Shri Vilas Bhaskar, Superintendent of Police Shri Yogesh Patel, Additional Collector Shri Sunil Nayak, Deputy Secretary of the Commission Shri Alok Kumar Srivastava, Under Secretary Shri Pranay Kumar Verma, Deputy Director of Public Relations Department Shri Laxmikant Kosaria and Private Secretary Shri Balram Dewangan along with election related officers and employees were present.
