Raipur, Jan 3
A one-day voluntary blood donation camp was organized at the Health Bhawan in Naya Raipur on January 3, 2024. The aim of the camp was to dispel misconceptions about blood donation among the general public and to promote awareness about its importance.
Commissioner and Director of Health Services Dr. Priyanka Shukla, Mission Director, National Health Mission Shri Vijay Dayaram, Director of Epidemic Control Dr. Surendra Pamhbhoi, State Nodal Officer Blood Cell Dr. Nidhi Gawalre, and nodal officers, deputy directors, and all officers and employees of all departments were present at the one-day blood donation camp.
On this occasion, officials and employees of the Directorate of Health Services enthusiastically donated blood and a total of 47 units of blood were collected.
On the occasion of the blood donation camp, Commissioner Dr. Priyanka Shukla herself donated blood and provided information about blood donation. She said that one unit of blood can save the lives of three people. Often, there are situations, especially involving pregnant women, who have low blood counts and need blood during delivery. In such a situation, one unit of blood donated by you becomes very important. She said that donating blood infuses a new energy into people’s bodies. After donating blood, new blood is collected in people’s bodies after 90 days. Therefore, people should never be afraid to donate blood and should donate blood to give the gift of life to people. Donating blood not only saves the life of one person but also keeps alive the hopes of other family members associated with the life of some person, because it is not known to any blood donor which needy person is getting the blood donated by him. Donating blood also has many health benefits. Regular blood donation helps control excess iron. Which is good for heart health. Many times the amount of blood in the patients’ body becomes so low that they need to take blood from another person. In such an emergency, people should come forward to donate blood and help the needy to ensure the supply of blood.
