Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan Plants a Tree in Nagpura, Promoting Chhattisgarh’s ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ Campaign

Union Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan, along with Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, planted a tree at the Rest House in Nagpura, Durg district, today, promoting the state’s ‘One Tree for Mother’ campaign and spreading the message of environmental protection.
Deputy Chief Minister Shri Vijay Sharma and other public representatives were also present on the occasion.
It is worth noting that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi had launched the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ tree plantation campaign on World Environment Day. The objective of this campaign is to make the environment clean and green. Under the campaign, a target has been set to plant 140 crore saplings across the country by March 2025.
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai had launched the ‘One Tree for Mother’ mega tree plantation campaign in Chhattisgarh on July 4, 2024. The Chief Minister has appealed to the citizens to plant a tree in honor of their mothers and name the plantation sites after local deities. This is an innovative initiative to promote environmental protection along with cultural and family values. Under this campaign, 4 crore saplings have been planted in Chhattisgarh.
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai said, “Trees provide us with oxygen, shade, and fruits. Tree plantation is very important to keep the earth green and save life. It is our responsibility to plant trees, protect them, and conserve the environment. Under the ‘One Tree for Mother’ campaign in the state, tree plantation is being carried out in vacant lands of schools, hostels, anganwadi centers, police stations, hospitals, government and private institutions.”
