I had the privilege of witnessing and experiencing the historic discussion on the Chhattisgarh Statehood Bill in Parliament as a Member of Parliament. Coming from a tribal family, I have personally seen the problems of hunger in the state. The PDS system implemented in 2003 under the leadership of Dr. Raman Singh helped free Chhattisgarh from this serious issue.”

He added that today, 15 medical colleges are operating in the state. Prestigious institutions such as IIT, IIM, and National Law University have been established in Chhattisgarh. The state has witnessed increased prosperity, and education and healthcare services have reached the common people.

The Chief Minister shared that the new industrial policy has received a positive response from entrepreneurs. The state has received investment proposals worth approximately ₹6.5 lakh crore. Work has begun in the fields of semiconductor chips and artificial intelligence. The state has also received major investment proposals in the energy sector.

He said that while the government is providing government jobs to the youth, emphasis is also being laid on generating private sector employment through skill development. The new industrial policy includes a “bespoke policy” provision which is an important initiative for employment generation.

He informed that the irrigated area in Chhattisgarh has consistently increased. Recently, during a visit to Delhi, he discussed the Bodhghat project with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. This project will ensure ample irrigation water for farmers in the Bastar region. Additionally, work has started on the interlinking project of the Indravati and Mahanadi rivers, which will increase the irrigated area to 7 lakh hectares. He said that Bastar is now part of the mainstream development. “Where once the sound of bullets echoed, now school bells ring.” Notably, Dhoomdharas has received international recognition in tourism from the United Nations.

Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Dr. Raman Singh said that over the past 25 years, Chhattisgarh has proven that development is not dependent on area or population, but on the effective use of resources and strong willpower.
