Himachal Pradesh: Leaders of BJP and Congress busy in campaigning for ensuing state assembly elections

In Himachal Pradesh, several leaders of BJP and Congress are busy in campaigning for the ensuing state assembly elections. The polling will be held on November 9th in all the 68 assembly constituencies in single phase.

The National President of BJP Amit Shah is schedule to address rallies in Amb of Una and Jaisinghpur of Kangra districts. Similarly, Congress leader Virbhadra Singh is campaigning in different constituencies of Una district.

The main focus of election department is to increase the polling percentage in the election this time by awakening people for which several steps are being taken under the programme SWEEP.

The voter’s percentage recorded in between 58.57 to 74.51 during the nine assembly elections held in the state since 1977 till 2012. The highest number of voters 30,55,710 used their franchise in assembly elections held in the year 2003 when the percentage was 74.51. Similarly, for 12th state assembly elections in 2012 polling was recorded 73.51. The lowest turn-out was recorded in assembly elections held in the year 1977 with only 58.57 percent voters used their right. This polling percentage remained recorded more than 70 per cent in seven out of the nine assembly elections held in between the year 1977 to 2012.
