
The campaigning for assembly elections in Karnataka has reached its peak as only two days have been left for canvassing. Top leaders of different political parties are making their last-ditch efforts to woo the voters.
Addressing an election rally in Bangarpet today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi accused Congress of spreading lies and said that BJP is for Dalits and reservation. He said BJP stands by Dalits while Congress stands for deals. Mr Modi said, Dalits have benefitted under BJP rule and it is proved since the time of Vajpayee’s Government that the party stands by Reservation policy. He said, the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Prevention of Atrocities Act, has been strengthened during his Government.
The Prime Minister said, the Congress party has also insulted and humiliated Dalit leaders like Dr. B R Ambedkar and Jagjivan Ram. He also said, it is the arrogance of namdaars or dynasts in Congress that its seat share in Parliament has reduced from 400 to 40. On the statement made by Rahul Gandhi on becoming Prime Minister if Congress emerges as single largest party, the Prime Minister said it is nothing but the arrogance that he has declared himself as Prime Minister without bothering about other senior leaders in his party. He said, Congress has destroyed the spirit of democracy.
Mr Modi accused Congress of spreading six evils – Congress culture, Communalism, Casteism, Crime, Corruption, Contractor system. Mr Modi said, during the UPA government, there was one Prime Minister and one remote control but in the NDA Government, their remote control and the high command are the 125 crore people of India. Mr Modi is scheduled to address three more rallies in Chikkaamagaluru, Belagavi and Bidar today.
Addressing a public meeting in Tumkur, BJP President Amit Shah said, Siddaramaiah government has become the symbol of corruption. He said, Congress party is trying to win the election on the basis of bogus voter cards and money in Karnataka. He claimed, BJP is getting overwhelming support from people and expressed confidence of forming Government under B S Yeddyurappa.
Congress President Rahul Gandhi interacted with women factory workers in Bengaluru today. Responding to a question on the closure of factories, he said, 90 percent of the money in Banks goes to a few rich businessmen. He said that Banks gave 33,000 crore rupees to diamond merchant Nirav Modi who has now cheated the banks. He held a road show later in Basavanagudi in the city.
Addressing a rally in Mysuru today, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said, atrocities on Dalits have increased during the NDA rule. He said, Congress is the only party that takes everyone into confidence and does not discriminate based on religion. The assembly elections will be held on Saturday and Counting of votes will take place on 15th of this month.

He will hold road shows in Tumkur and Bengaluru during the day. Meanwhile, JD(S) has submitted a letter to the Chief Electoral Office today to postpone the election in Rajareshwarinagara assembly constituency after bundles of original voters ID cards were found in an apartment. It is charged that Local MLA is directly responsible for rigging the poll in this constituency.
