Ranchi, June 19
Amity Institute of English Studies and Research of Amity University Jharkhand (AUJ) conducted an Essay Writing Competition titled ‘Contemporary Yoga Practices and its Disconnect with its Traditional Forms’ on the occasion of International Yoga Day on Saturday for Jharkhand-based college and university students as well as faculty members of AUJ.
As many as 22 students and 10 faculty members participated in the event.
Dr. Niraj Dang, Assistant Professor of English Department, Vinoba Bhave University was the guest speaker here.
He congratulated the participants and winners. “Yoga is a gift to India. It creates a synergy that in turn results in awareness,” he quoted.
Prof. (Dr.) Raman Kumar Jha, Vice Chancellor, Amity University, Jharkhand appreciated the yoga practices inherited by our forefathers. He said that he had been practicing yoga persistently since last year.
He further mentioned yogic sciences and scriptures described in Vedic Science. He stressed creating welfare in some sort of food and pranayam to retain health.
Among the students, Vishnu Banerjee, Sanya Satija, and Adil Mahato bagged the first three positions respectively while Mrs. Aditi Singh Sharma, Ms. Sumedha Chaudhury, and Dr. Jayshree Mukherjee were declared the first, second, and third winners amongst the faculty members.
Professor (Dr.) Ajit Kumar Pandey, Director, Amity University, Jharkhand, and Mr. Prabhakar Tripathi, Registrar, Amity University, Jharkhand conveyed their blessings on this occasion.
