Traditional Festival “Pora Tihar” Celebrated with Grandeur at Agriculture Minister’s Residence

Chhattisgarh’s traditional festival “Pora Tihar” was celebrated today with great pomp and traditional fervor at the residence of Agriculture Minister Shri Ramvichar Netam. On this auspicious occasion of Pora Tihar, Governor Shri Ramen Deka participated and performed the rituals according to custom, extending his greetings and best wishes to the people of Chhattisgarh. He said that Pora Tihar is an important tradition of Chhattisgarh’s rural culture and agricultural life.
The program began with Agriculture Minister Shri Netam, along with his wife Mrs. Pushpa Netam, performing worship of Lord Shiva-Parvati and the divine form Nandiya-Baila, praying for the happiness and prosperity of the state’s residents. He extended his greetings to the gathered crowd on the occasion of Pora Tihar. Minister Shri Netam said that today is Pora Tihar, dedicated in Chhattisgarh’s tradition to farmers and animal lovers. He further noted that three days from now is Teej, which is considered the biggest festival for married women. According to ancient scriptures, Mother Parvati observed a rigorous fast of Teej for Lord Shiva. Our government is honoring women by transferring Rs. 1000 each to their accounts under the Mahtari Vandan scheme during the first week of every month. Minister Netam said that following Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s path of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, and Sabka Prayas,” the government led by Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai is continuously working for the multifaceted development of Chhattisgarh.
On this occasion, Union Minister of State Shri Tokhan Sahu, Minister Shri Gajendra Yadav, Shri Guru Khushwant Sahib, former Governor Shri Ramesh Bais, MLAs Shri Purandar Mishra, Shri Rohit Sahu, Shri Motilal Sahu, Shri Indra Kumar Sahu, along with officials of the Mandal-Nigam Commission and a large number of citizens were present.
Deputy Chief Minister Shri Arun Sao said that today our fellow minister Shri Ramvichar Bhaiya has invited us to his home to celebrate Pora Tihar by offering the festival “Tyouta.” Pora Tihar is a festival of Chhattisgarh’s tradition and social harmony. Our government is undertaking many important initiatives to empower women. Women and Child Development Minister Mrs. Lakshmi Rajwade also extended greetings on Pora Tihar and said that the government is celebrating traditional festivals in the state with respect and renewed enthusiasm.
The Agriculture Minister’s residence was specially decorated in a traditional rural setting. The atmosphere, adorned with traditional bullock carts, Nandiya-Baila, and clay toys and utensils, reflected the rural landscape. On this occasion, Chhattisgarhi folk artists gave splendid performances, making the Pora Tihar celebration even more vibrant. Meanwhile, visitors enjoyed various traditional Chhattisgarhi delicacies such as Thethri, Khurmi, Airsa, Gulgula Bhajiya, Cheela, Fara, and more.
