On Monday, Ranchi MP Dr Mahua Maji encouraged Amity University Jharkhand students to write books in their mother tongue or regional language as well besides English because the former is local while the latter is global.
“Take pride in your mother tongue,” she said citing the books and novels of eminent authors MM Dutt, Mahasweta Devi, Taslima Nasreen, Paulo Coelho, Gabriel Marcel, Raja Ram Mohan Roy, Swami Vivekananda, and journalist Rajdeep Sardesai.
She further informed that in terms of writing, non-fiction is preferred more over fiction. She urged reading as much as possible but producing original works, and writing on topics that bring about the reality of society. Highlighting the power of writing books she said “We can preserve a period through the book. It can change a life”. According to Maji, Kindle has opened doors for self-publishing.

Prof. (Dr.) Ajit Kumar Pandey, Director, Amity University Jharkhand felt honored and privileged to welcome the chief guest Dr. Mahua Maji ma’am. He believes that a book is something that preserves our feelings, our emotions for centuries citing the examples of mythology book Mahabharata. He said nothing can be bigger than the sense of accomplishment when a teacher gets to know about their students are excelling. He gave blessings and encouragement to the budding authors.
Dr. S Arvind Pandey , Director Law Amity University Jharkhand said that those who want to become writers have to be in full compassion and empathy. He shared tips on writing a book. He said if you want to become a famous writer in a short span of time, you should have a store of words. Read Kabir couplet, Rahim couplet, Raskhan couplet, Tulsidas, all will help you a lot. He said to write in such a way that catches the nerves of the society and he gave idea to write books on travelogue. Moreover, citing the Guest of Honour Dr. Mahua Maji Member, Rajya Sabha as role model he said that even you all budding authors can be an epitome in society.
Mr. Prabhakar Tripathi, Registrar, Amity University Jharkhand, appreciated all the authors. He said that in 6 years Amity has done over 325 publications. He advised to maintain sensitivity while writing and also cited books as true reflection of a society.
The budding authors expressed their thoughts wonderfully. The Six students of Amity University Jharkhand whose books were launched on this occasion were Manpreet Kaur (Beautifully Mended), Shivansh Maurya (The Catharsis : Volume 1and 2),K. Jeni (Pen writes), Mickey Kumari (You Can Yes I Will), Shreya Deoghariya ( My Last Wish), Shreeyank Kr. Ojha ( Khwaab).
