Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that US had violated the international law by launching an air-strike on a Syrian military airfield without providing any evidence of the use of chemical weapons by the Damascus Government.
In a Television channel interview he said in Moscow that the air-strike was carried out on a sovereign country, without an approval by the UN Security Council.
Earlier, Putin has criticized the US missile strike on Syria, comparing it to the military intervention in Iraq that was based on an unverified claim that the country had weapons of mass destruction. He said that a military campaign started in Iraq and ended with the destruction of the country, adding that the threat of terrorism grew and Islamic State militants emerged on the international scene.
The US military fired missiles at a Syrian air force base on last Friday after the Trump administration determined that Syrian Government forces had used chemical weapons in opposition-held territory.
