Union Home Minister inaugurates 2-day Civil Services Day

Home Minister Rajnath Singh has asked civil servants to interpret and implement rules and regulations with an open and progressive mindset.

Addressing the 11th Civil Services Day function in New Delhi today, Mr Singh said, decisions should be taken on the basis of national interest and in the interest of the people.

He said, while making the rules it should be kept in mind that people are helped by these rules and regulations and not hindered by it.

He said, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision is focused on development and good governance and with the help of technology civil servants can improve service delivery mechanism.

Mr Singh said, the Government through Jan Dhan, Aadhar and Mobile, JAM convergence is transforming good governance into smart governance. He said, the govt is committed for Antyodaya, the upliftment of the most downtrodden and civil servants have to play more active and effective role to fulfill it.

He said, the Government is known for its commitment and conviction and we are heading towards fulfilling Prime Minister’s dream of ensuring food, house, eduction and health for everyone by 2022. The Minister said, civil servants should always remember that Civil services have power, But with power comes responsibility, accompanied by accountability.

Lauding the Civil Servants, Mr Singh said, Indian polity never faced a vacuum and witnessed continuity in all these years due to the Civil Services. He said, administrative continuity in India has been one of the important reasons for the success of Indian democracy.

Mr Singh asked the officers not to compromise with their conscience just to show the agreement with the political executive.
