
The world number three player PV Sindhu has entered into the semi-finals of the World Badminton Championships at Nanjing, China by defeating Nozomi Okuhara of Japan. As per information received, the Indian shuttler defeated eighth seed Nozomi Okuhara of Japan, in straight games, 21-17, 21-19 in the quarterfinals played last night.
Sindhu had lost to Okuhara in the Championships last year to settle for a Silver medal. The victory of Sindhu means that the head-to-head record between the two shuttlers now stands level at 6-6.
Today, the Rio Olympics Silver medalist will play another Japanese, world number two Akane Yamaguchi, for a place in the Final. Sindhu currently leads the head-to-head record against Yamaguchi, 6-4.
Sindhu is the only Indian left in the tournament. Saina Nehwal and the Mixed Doubles pair of Ashwini Ponnappa and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy bowed out in the quarterfinals yesterday.
