Security personnel killed seven ultras in naxal-hit Bijapur

A joint squad of Special Task Force (STF) and District Reserve Guard (DRG) today gunned down as many as seven ultras, including three female cadres, in insurgency-hit Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh, informed police.

As per information received, the encounter took place in forest close to during morning hours. Following a tip-off about presence of ultras in the forest, security personnel launched an anti-naxal exercise. When security personnel reached the forest, ultras opened discriminate firing following which jawans launched retaliatory action.

While undertaking search at the spot of encounter, jawans recovered bodies of seven slain rebels along with firearms, police said.

Further details are awaited as the search operation was still underway in the area, he added.
