Aiming to create awareness about menstrual hygiene and in interest of women, South East Central Railway Woman Welfare Organisation (SECRWWO) has installed a sanitary napkin vending machine and an incinerator at Raipur railway station today.
The vending machine installed at platform number-1 of the railway station will provide sanitary napkin at the cost of Rs 5 per pad whereas the incinerator is being used for proper and scientific disposal of sanitary wastes, informed railway officials, adding that the step is going to be emerging as a revolution in concept of menstrual hygiene in the country.
The vending machine installed by SECRWWO was today inaugurated by a female railway employee Saraswati Sonwani. Meanwhile, the members of SECRWWO gave detailed information about its operation and benefits to women at the platforms and waiting-halls.
