BJP is creating an atmosphere of fear, alleged Gandhi
Raipur, May 17
Usually, people go to the Supreme Court for justice but for the first time in 70 years, we saw SC judges coming to the people complaining that they are being intimidated and they are not being allowed to do their jobs, said Congress President Rahul Gandhi.
The Congress President was addressing Jan Swaraj Sammelan in Chhattisgarh’s capital Raipur today.
“Something like this happened for the first time in a democratic country. It happens in dictatorships. It happened in Pakistan & Africa. But this happened for the first time in 70 years in India,” added Gandhi.
For the first time in history, we witnessed 4 Judges of the SC, come out to the general public asking them for support, Congress President, alleging that one by one, the RSS has captured the independent institutions of the country.
Targeting BJP-led government at the centre over safety of women-girls and rights of dalits, Gandhi charged that BJP is creating an atmosphere of fear and they don’t want Dalits, backward classes and women to fulfill their dreams.
He further alleged that the BJP claims that women are not in the position to stand as equals alongside men and their only job is to cook at home. The only job of dalits is to clean & sweep and not dream of a better future. BJP is creating an atmosphere of fear. They don’t want Dalits, backward classes and women to fulfill their dreams.
“Every citizen in the country must be part of the progress, be it a Dalit or an adivasi (tribal). Water, Forests and Land rights belong to adivasis and these should be handed over to them. They should be given the power to be self-sufficient,” said Gandhi.
In 2019, Congress will focus on three things, education, healthcare, and employment, said Gandhi elaborating that we will work on education in government schools and make it more accessible.
Taking dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Gandhi said that PM Modi considers farmers as burden on the nation while Congress consider them to be the backbone of our country.
He further said that Panchayati Raj will devolve power entirely into the hands of the people. Our duty is to enhance the Panchayati Raj to protect and restore their rights that the BJP is trying to snatch away.
