President Ramnath Kovind today said Chhattisgarh’s development could become a model for other States. Speaking at the valedictory function of Chhattisgarh’s 18th statehood day celebrations at Naya Raipur, he said the state is endowed with vast natural resources such as forests and minerals but the state’s real asset is its simple and honest people.
He said Chhattisgarh has progressed fast during the last 17 years and development of new state capital of Naya Raipur as world’s best modern and eco-friendly city is a milestone in this direction.
Referring to certain violence-affected pockets in tribal areas of the state, the President paid tributes to the security personnel belonging to police and para-military forces saying that it’s because of their supreme sacrifice that the state is now able to celebrate the statehood day festival. He said nearly 1100 security personnel had laid down their lives in their line of duty in these areas.
After his arrival at Raipur, President first visited Shahid samark premises in Mana and paid homage to the jawans, who laid down their lives in their line of duty in violence affected areas of the state. Later, he attended the state’s 18th foundation day celebrations and conferred state level awards to 18 individuals and five organisations for their outstanding contribution in their respective fields.
