Call it as an outcome of wicked psychology or superstition, a person allegedly beaten her mother to death on the suspicion of practicing witchcraft, in Chhattisgarh’s capital Raipur (India). Horrified by series of incidents took place in dream, the accused hit his mother with iron pan and killed her.
A middle-aged woman identified Sumitra Dhruv was allegedly killed by his son Rohit Dhruv (27) on the suspicion of practicing black-magic, police said today.
The crime took place Tatibandh area falling in limits of Amanaka police station on intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday, added police.
Shedding more information in the case, police sources averred that on the suspicion that Sumitra was indulged in practice of witchcraft and responsible for death of his two brothers in past, Rohit Dhruv allegedly beaten his 55-year-old mother with an iron pan. In his statement, the accused told police investigators that Sumitra was trying to kill him in his dream and when he wake-up, he found Sumitra standing in front. Horrified by the entire chronology of incident, he hit his mother with iron pan.
According to police investigator, the crime came to light when the accused was trying to dispose-off the body by setting it to fire. After being informed about the suspicious activity in Sumitra’s house, neighbour informed police leading to his arrest. Police have recovered the iron pan used by accused to kill his mother and the partially charred body of Sumitra. Police have sent the body for autopsy.
In this connection, police have arrested the accused and registered a crime under relevant sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC), police said, elaborating that further investigation in the case is underway.
