US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has said that two days of talks with his North Korean counterpart on dismantling Pyongyang’s nuclear arsenal had been very productive.

Briefing reporters before flying to Tokyo, Mr Pompeo said today that progress has been made on almost all of the central issues, including on setting a timeline for its denuclearization, but work remained to be done.

Meanwhile, North Korea’s official news agency said the result of talks with the delegation headed by U.S. Secretary of State was troubling, accusing it of insisting on complete, verifiable and irreversible denuclearization.

South Korea’s Yonhap news agency quoting North’s Foreign Ministry said US attitude and positions at the high-level talks were regrettable.
