Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh today chaired Cabinet meeting in Secretariat (Mahanadi Bhavan). In the cabinet meeting held today, Dr Singh expressed grief on sad demise of Ex-Prime Minister of the country Atal Bihari Vajpayee, creator of Chhattisgarh state, and passed condolence proposal. Dr Singh also approved the proposal to be sent to three-tier panchayats, urban bodies, corporations and boards regarding sanction of condolence proposal.
After the meeting, Chief Minister Dr Singh provided information about Cabinet’s decisions. He informed that keeping in view the historical contribution of late Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee in formation of Chhattisgarh state, Naya Raipur will be named as Atal Nagar and Atal ji’s statue will also be built there. Central Park in Naya Raipur will also be named after Atal ji, and a memorial will be constructed in Naya Raipur. Many other decisions were also taken to preserve memories of Atal Ji for a longer period of time. Atal Ji’s statue will be set up at in all 27 district headquarters of the state. Chief Minister further informed that Bilaspur University and Rajnandgaon Medical College will also be named after Atal ji, National Award will be started in the memory of Atalji for felicitation of poets at national level and second phase of State Government’s Vikas Yatra will be organized as Atal Vikas Yatra. Dr Singh informed that as per Cabinet’s decisions, Madwa Thermal Power Plant and Expressway being constructed on Eastern Narrow Gauge being in capital city Raipur will also be named after Atal ji. Collectorate Garden will also be named after Late Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Dr Raman Singh informed – On the occasion of Chhattisgarh State Foundation Day (Rajyotsav) on November 1st, Atal Bihari Vajpayee Good Governance Award will be started for three-tier panchayat and urban bodies. Under this one Gram Panchayat in each Janpad Panchayat and one Janpad Panchayat, one nagar panchayat and one municipal council in each Revenue Division, and one jila panchayat and one municipal corporation at state-level will be given this award. Atal Ji’s biography will be included in books of Chhattisgarh Board, so that new generation may get inspiration. Atal Ji had facilitated historical nuclear test in Pokhran. To make this contribution of him memorable, a battalion of Chhattisgarh Armed Forces will be named as Pokhran Battalion.
17 roads of the State to be declared as city routes for bus services
Chief Minister informed that in today’s meeting, Cabinet has declared 17 routes of Bemetara, Durg, Janjgir-Champa, Raigarh, and Kondagan as city routes for city bus services.
More than 12 lakh consumers to get flat rate facility under Sahaj Bijli Bill Yojana
Dr Singh informed that in the meeting, Cabinet examined Sahaj Bijli Bill Yojana and decided that under this scheme, eligible beneficiaries selected on the basis of BPL list of year 2002 and socio-economic census year 2011 will be provided flat rate payment facility at Rs 100/month in place of existing rate, on consumption exceeding 40 units per month (of provisioned free electricity). Implementation of this scheme will benefit more than 12 lakh consumers with domestic connection and they will be provided relief of nearly Rs 500 crore. This will not only bring uniformity in billing system but also make the payment process transparent and simple.
Chhattisgarh Film Development Corporation to be constituted
Chief Minister said- Chhattisgarhi films have history of more than 50 years. More than 100 chhattisgarhi films have been made in this period. To provide better opportunities to artists of state, to promote regional film making and to provide complete facilities for its release and screening, Cabinet has decided to constitute ‘Chhattisgarh Film Development Corporation’ under Culture Department. It will be registered under Chhattisgarh Society Registration Act 1973.
He informed that formation of Film Development Corporation will not only promote art, culture and film industry of state but also tourism and employment of the state. Corporation will also arrange for training of artists involved in film making. Financial aids, grants etc will be provided for various aspects of film making as per the requirement. Dr Singh informed that Chairman for Board of Director of the corporation will be nominated by the government. Secretary Culture Department, Director Public Relations, Director Industry, Managing Director Tourism Board and Director Culture and Archaeology Department will be the members of the board.
7% reservation for disable people
Chief Minister informed that- Government of India has provisioned 4% reservation for disable people (including physically handicapped, visually impaired and hearing impaired and others) under Disable Person Rights Act 2016, whereas in Chhattisgarh state, there is already a provision for 2-2% reservation for each of the three categories i.e. 6% reservation in total. In the meeting held today, it was decided that aforementioned reservation will be increased by 1 % for two new categories of disable included by Central Government i.e. mental/psychological disability and multiple disabilities.
Rs 745 crore as bonus for Tendupatta collectors
Dr Raman Singh informed that in the meeting held today, cabinet has decided to distribute Rs 744 crore 93 lakh as bonus for collection works of year 2017 to tendupatta collectors.
