IT department conducts raids at Jayalalithaa’s Poes garden residence

Income Tax officials conducted raids for almost four to five hours at the famous Veda Nilayam, the residence of late Chief Minister Jayalalithaa at Poes Garden Chennai.

Officials reached the residence at around 10 PM and began searches in front of Vivek, the CEO of Jaya TV and the son of Ilavarasi, relative of Sasikala.

After a four to five hour midnight raids, Vivek told the media that the officials had raided certain rooms inside the Veda Nilayam excluding the rooms of the late Chief Minister Jayalalithaa.

He said the authorities had summoned his sister Shakilah for interrogation at the Income tax office at Nungambakkam yesterday and thereby had brought her to Veda Nilayam to examine and confirm the relevant information given by her.

Meanwhile, Deepa, niece of the late Chief Minister, demanded that the police should allow her into the residence as she was a legal heir. She told the media that legal action would be taken against the department as they have not given a notice to her as she had filed a case against the State Government’s decision to make it a memorial.

TTV Dinakaran, criticised the Chief Minister and the other Ministers for being mute spectators for all the events. It is said that Sasikala, might be summoned for questioning.

Hearing about the raids, lot of AIADMK cadres had gathered in front of Poes Garden,they were later arrested by the Police.

Security has been stepped up in front of the Poes Garden residence. Police prevented a person who tried to immolate himself and arrested him.
