Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that India-Bangladesh relations have been on an upward trajectory in the last few years. Interacting with Foreign Affairs Minister of Bangladesh Dr. A. K. Abdul Momen who called on him at his official residence today, Mr Modi reaffirmed India’s commitment to work with Bangladesh to build on this momentum during the new term in office of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Dr Momen briefed the Prime Minister on recent developments in the bilateral relationship. Mr Modi congratulated Dr Abdul Momen on his appointment as the Foreign Minister and appreciated his gesture of selecting India as the destination for his first foreign visit.
The Foreign Affairs Minister of Bangladesh arrived in New Delhi late night yesterday on a four-day visit to India. During the visit, Mr Momen will attend the 5th India-Bangladesh Joint Consultative Committee Meeting tomorrow. Some agreements will be signed after the meeting. Prior to the meeting, he will meet External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj.
