IMA asks its members to support PM Modi’s push for generic drugs

Indian Medical Association has asked all its members to support Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s push for generic drugs. Welcoming Prime Minister’s move, IMA Secretary General Dr. R N Tondon said that the association has written to its 3 lakh members to support it whole-heartedly.

Briefing reporters in New Delhi today Mr. Tondon also called for stronger laws to eliminate the circulation of spurious and substandard medicines in the country.

Dr. Tondon said that the soul motive of IMA is to make available generic medicines at modest price to the public and it is working for promotion of drugs in the National List of essential Medicines NLEM, which are price capped and cheaper.

Dr. Tondon also said that the organization is also working towards setting up Jan Aushadhi Stores aross the country from where these generic medicines will be available easily.
