
UP, Apr 4: Uttar Pradesh government today decided to waive off farmer’s agricultural loan up to 1 lakh rupees. The first cabinet meeting of Yogi government held this evening in Lucknow, has also decided to provide free electricity to BPL families in urban areas. Meeting was chaired by the Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
As per reports, about 86 lakh small and marginalized farmers of the state will be benefited with today`s decision of state cabinet and about 36 thousand crore rupees of financial burden will be on the public exchequer to meet out the decision of waiving off the agri-loans. BJP had promised in its Sankalp Patra released during assembly polls, waving off their agro loans.
Government has also approved the proposal of construction of a multi-facility stadium at Ghazipur and 5 crore rupees will be spent on the project. Cabinet has approved the proposal to provide land free of cost for the stadium project.
Proposals for banning illegal slaughter houses and purchase of wheat have also been accepted in the cabinet.
Talking to media persons after cabinet meeting, Power Minister Srikant Sharma said that cabinet has decided to purchase 80 lakhs metric tons wheat during the current season and 5000 purchase centers will be opened for the purpose. He said that cabinet has also approved the setting up of anti -Romeo squad to protect girls and women.
Most of the Ministers including Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Dr. Dinesh Sharma, Surya Prakash Shahi, Rajesh Agrawal, Srikant Sharma, Rita Bahuguna Joshi, Brajesh Pathak were present in the first cabinet meeting of BJP government.
Adityanath Yogi Cabinet in its first meeting took nine decisions. It includes waving off of agro loans of small and marginalized farmers, setting up of three separate committees of Ministers on formulation of new Industrial policy, to check illegal mining and to protect the interests of potato growing farmers.
Two Committees of potato farmers and illegal mining will be headed by the Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya and Committee for formulation of new industry policy will be headed by the Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Dinesh Sharma. Government has said that to attract investors and increase avenues for employment a new industrial policy is needed.
This committee will visit to different states to study the industrial policies of industrialized states and submit its report to the government. Government has waved off over 36 thousand 350 crore rupees of farmers agro loan and amounts turned into non performing assets.
