Setting an example for so-called social activists, politicians and groups, who takes out candlelight march, expressed condolence and play series of gimmicks following any bigger incident in any part of the country, India cricketer Gautam Gambhir has announced of supporting the children of 25 CRPF men, who were martyred in Maoist ambush in Chhattisgarh’s insurgency-hit Sukma district of Monday.
The Kolkata Knight Riders skipper has said that his foundation will take care of the entire education expenses of the children of the martyrs. Gambhir also confirmed that the work has already started in this regard and the progress will be made public soon.
“The Gautam Gambhir Foundation will take care of the entire education expenses of the children of these martyrs. My team has already started work on this and I shall soon share the progress we have made,” Gambhir said.
“It is for the same reasons (teamwork and selflessness) I love armed forces too, although the quantum of losing a dear one while serving the country can never ever be compared to losing a cricket match,” said Gambhir.
In one of the worst Naxal attacks in Chattisgarh in the recent past, 25 CRPF jawans were killed and seven others injured when Maoists attacked a patrol party of the 74th battalion of the paramilitary force near Burkapal village under Chintagufa police station limits on April 24.
