The state cabinet, presided over by Chief Minister Raman Singh, met this evening and took the decision in view of seriousness of the case. Higher Education Minister Prem Prakash Pandey briefed the media about the decision.
It is to be mentioned here that an FIR has been filed against Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee (CGPCC) chief Bhupesh Baghel in the alleged Minister’s video clip case. This has been done on a complaint filed by Rajesh Munat, accusing Baghel and senior journalist Vinod Verma for allegedly tarnishing his image through what he called a fake sex CD.
Inspector General of Police, Raipur range, Pradeep Gupta said further action will be taken on the basis of ongoing investigation.
Meanwhile, Bhupesh Baghel has demanded an independent probe in the reported video clip case. Talking to reporters in Raipur today, he demanded that the probe should be monitored by a sitting judge of Supreme Court.
He alleged that the BJP government is usurping the freedom of the press by misusing the police machinery.
The police have secured transit remand for journalist Vinod Verma till Monday from a Ghaziabad court. Verma was arrested Ghaziabad in connection with an extortion case registered in Raipur.
