In an attempt to corner Naveen Patnaik-led BJD government in Odisha over an issue of female safety and crime against women, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will be launching a state-wide ‘bangle’ collection campaign from January 14 and the collected bangle will later be sent to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
Terming bangle as a symbol of strength, BJP women wing will be sending bangles collected from women across the state to Chief Minister so that he will take action against its party leader who were indulged in such cases, said senior BJP leader in the state Dr Lekhasri Samantsinghar while addressing media in Balasore on Sunday.

“Bangle is a symbol of strength and it will give courage to Chief Minister for taking action against leaders of his party indulged in crimes against women,” stated Dr Samantsinghar.
She further alleged that under the nose of ruling party and patronage of its minister, crime against women is increasing across the state. Be it a school girl or a housewife, no one is safe and crime against women is common news across the state. Usually, it has been seen that people indulged in such crimes have connections with leaders of ruling party.

In 19 year-long tenure, BJD government and its chief failed to ensure safe environment to women in the state, charged Dr Samantsinghar, adding that the state government failed to ensure justice to rape victims and it’s a matter for deep concern.
A similar pattern was witnessed in most of the rape cases be it Pipili gang rape-murder case or others, the state government’s home department as well as leaders of ruling party spotted saying that victim was not raped, said Dr Samantsinghar.
Meanwhile, the leader also shots series of questions to CM Patnaik which include why police did not lodged FIR of Pipili victim’s parents, if the victim of pipili case was not exploited sexually then why she had been admitted in hospital for long time, for which disease she was undergoing treatment and how she gone to coma.
