Ball -tampering scandal: Will regret the incident all his life, says a tearful Smith

A tearful Steve Smith today took full responsibility for the ball-tampering scandal in South Africa that has left his reputation in tatters.

In a five-minute press conference in Sydney after his arrival from South Africa today, Smith said he is absolutely gutted right now and would regret the incident for the rest of his life.

The Australian captain said he will do everything he can to make up for his mistake.

Before being escorted out, Smith hoped that his fate serves as a warning to anybody trying to attempt any wrongdoing.
