
Air India today lifted the ban on Shiv Shena MP Ravindra Gaikwad, this came after the MP sent a regret letter to Civil Aviation Minister yesterday over the alleged physical assault incident. Air India said, in view of regret by Mr. Gaikwad and undertaking of good conduct given by him, the Ministry has advised Air India and other airlines to lift ban on the MP.
The politician was barred from flying nearly two weeks ago for assaulting the national carrier’s staffer on board a flight. The incident occurred when Mr. Gaikwad was flying from Pune to Delhi. Following the incident, the airlines had banned the MP from flying.
Meanwhile, Air India spokesperson said, the Airline is committed to ensure its employees are not assaulted or misbehaved with. The spokesperson said, it will take strong action to preserve dignity of its employees.
As per information received, with the Air India revoking the ban, private airlines may follow same.
