In Uttar Pradesh, seven coaches of Lucknow bound Rajya Rani Express were derailed near a bridge over Kosi River in Rampur district this morning. Several passengers are reportedly trapped inside the coaches.
Due to the derailment, Up and Down rail track is disturbed and rail communication is halted. Locals are helping the passengers. DRM Moradabad division and other officials have rushed to the derailment site. Details are awaited.
Minister for Railways Suresh Prabhu has said, an enquiry has been ordered to look into the cause of the derailment of Rajyarani Express. In a tweet, Mr Prabhu said, strict action will be taken against any lapse.
The Minister said, he is personally monitoring the situation and has directed senior officers to rush to the spot. He also ensured speedy relief and rescue operations.
