
Union Sports Minister Vijay Goel today said that a Comprehensive Anti-Doping Law is very much essential to curb the menace of Doping in sports and to keep the sports clean.
Addressing delegates in consultation meeting for Drafting Anti-Doping Legislation in New Delhi, Mr. Goel said, doping is becoming very serious in sports at all levels and the menace as even spread to universities, colleges and schools.
He further added, the proposed anti doping law covers various stakeholders such as coaches, pharmacists, doctors and others apart from sports person involved in the malpractice.
Generally, it is the sports person who is punished for consumption of banned drugs, coaches, pharmacists and drug prescriber goes scot-free always. Ministry of Sports is considering a law envisaging punishment for all the persons involved in the doping exercise.
The domain experts, authorities from the sports ministry, and National Anti Doping Authorities would deliberate on draft Anti doping legislation.
