Fifty-nine Maoist supporters surrender before police in Bastar

In Chhattisgarh, fifty-nine Maoist supporters, including 16 women, turned them before police in insurgency-hit Bastar region, police informed today.

According to a senior police officer, said that the surrendered persons belong to Naxal-affected interior villages of Dubbakonta, Gaganpalli and Kongdam.

The officer further informed that around 600 villagers came before police with these Maoist supporters stating that they were willing to give up Naxal ideology and return to mainstream. I

There was no pressure from the police for this surrender, said the officer, elaborating that as per the rehabilitation and surrender police of the state government, necessary assistance will be provided to them.
