At least eleven personnel of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were Martyred in an encounter took place in insurgency-hit Sukma district of Chhattisgarh on Monday, police said.
The encounter took place in restive area falling in limits of Chintagufa police station where security personnel were providing security to some construction work, informed police sources.
The martyred personnel were belonging to 74th battalion of CRPF, added police.
While ensuring security to road construction work, ultras opened indiscriminate firing on security personnel reportedly leaving eleven CRPF personnel dead, police said, elaborating that as many as seven troopers were injured in the incident.
According to information received, the injured personnel were identified as ASI R P Hembram, head constable Ram Mehar, constable Swaroop Kumar, constable Mohinder Singh, constable Jitendra Kumar, constable Sher Mohammad and CT Latoo Oraon. After being informed about the incident, additional reinforcement was rushed to the area and injured were evacuated.
