Strong Step Towards Empowering Youth and Building a Self-Reliant Chhattisgarh: Sai

Raipur, August 2

After nearly eight years, the youth of Chhattisgarh finally got an opportunity to showcase their skills. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai, the government organized “Skill Festival 2025” this year to provide a platform for the youth. The Chhattisgarh State Skill Development Authority (CSSDA) conducted the event from July 21 to July 31, 2025, across all districts of the state with great enthusiasm and festivity. Selected participants from each district gave remarkable performances in their respective skill areas.

A total of 2,530 youths participated in the competition, out of which 288 participants were selected for the state-level competition. The event not only provided a platform for the youth to exhibit their talents but also inspired them to become self-reliant and employment-oriented. The primary objective of this event was to create awareness about skill development and prepare youth for national and international competitions like India Skills 2026 and World Skills 2026.

Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai congratulated and extended best wishes to all the participants selected for the state-level competition. In his congratulatory message, he stated that this event is not just a competition, but a symbol of hope, confidence, and opportunity for the youth of Chhattisgarh. He emphasized that this is a strong and commendable initiative by the state government towards empowering the future of the youth. The event not only supports employment generation but is also a positive step towards building a self-reliant Chhattisgarh.

Such a skill competition was previously organized in Chhattisgarh in the year 2017, making this the second edition after eight years, successfully held under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai and the guidance of Skill Development Minister Shri Kedar Kashyap.

The competition was conducted at the district and state levels in two age categories – the first for youth under 22 years, and the second for those aged 22 to 45 years. This year, competitions were held in 10 major trades, including:

Automotive Technology

Bricklaying

Renewable Energy

Food & Beverage

Health and Social Care

Plumbing and Heating

Electrical Installation

Electronics

Computer and Mobile Phone Technician

IT Networking

Mobile Repair

Graphic Design

Refrigeration and Air Conditioning

Each district hosted 2 to 3 trade competitions daily. Participants were given real-world, task-based challenges in each trade, with each competition lasting 2–3 hours. Evaluations were carried out by expert panels. Following the district-level competitions, two winners from each trade and age group were selected and honored with certificates and medals.

In the coming months, the state-level Skill Festival 2025 will be held. Selected youth will receive advanced training, awards, skill demonstrations, and career guidance. They will also get the opportunity to participate in national-level competitions, and those who qualify there will go on to represent India at the World Skills 2026 in Shanghai, China.
