Water level in river Jhelum, all its tributaries come down considerably averting flood situation in Kashmir

In Jammu & Kashmir, the water level in the river Jhelum and all its tributaries has come down considerably averting likely flood situation in Kashmir.

There was decrease in cloud cover after four days today that almost ended the flood threat looming over the Kashmir Valley.

Meteorological department has forecast fair weather in the Kashmir Valley till Tuesday.

People of Kashmir have heaved a sigh of relief as the water is now flowing well below the flood declaration mark at both Sangam south Kashmir and Ram Munshi Bagh central Kashmir gauges of River Jhelum.

With the improvement of weather and completion of clearance work of landslides and shooting stones from Banihal Ramban road stretch, the traffic movement of stranded vehicles remained smooth.

More than 1300 vehicles including passenger cabs and trucks carrying essential commodities crossed Jawahar Tunnel late this evening.
