Voting underway for Lok Sabha by-poll in Kerala

Voting is underway peacefully for the by-elections to Malappuram Lok Sabha constituency in Kerala and Upper Burtuk Assembly seat in Sikkim. Moderate to brisk polling has been reported, so far.

In Kerala, polling, which began at 7 am, will end at 6 pm. The by-polls were necessitated due to the demise of former Union Minister and IUML leader E Ahamed. UDF, LDF and NDA are the three major contenders in this polls, while six independents are also in the fray.

In Sikkim, polling started at 7 AM and will conclude at 5 PM. The Upper Burtuk seat fell vacant after Sikkim Krantikari Morcha President Prem Singh Tamng was disqualified in January this year. Sikkim Democratic Front, BJP and Congress are among the prominent parties in the fray.
