Uttar Pradesh: 12 deaths due to consumption of spurious liquor in Barabanki

In Uttar Pradesh, 12 persons lost their lives in Barabanki district after allegedly consuming spurious liquor. Chief Minister of the State Yogi Adityanath has instructed probe into the incident by a joint team of Home and State Excise departments. He also announced to provide financial assistance of two lakh rupees to the next kin of each deceased.

AIR Lucknow correspondent reports that villagers from two villages of Salarpur and Dhidora have informed the local administration that deceased had taken spurious liquor.

In their joint report to the State Government, District Magistrate Akhilesh Tiwari and District Police Chief Anil Kumar Singh have said that cause of deaths in Dhidora village may be different as per information given by daughter of one of the deceased.
Joint probe team has reached the spot following the direction of state government. Main opposition Samajwadi Party leader and former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has demanded high level probe into the incident and punishment to the guilty persons. He has also demanded financial assistance of 10 lakhs rupees to the deceased families.
