In Uttar Pradesh the Yogi government has decided to probe into the alleged irregularities in the high profile Agra Expressway project, initiated by the previous Akhilesh Yadav Government.
The probe will include irregularities into land acquisition, construction quality, tendering and payments of compensation and cost paid for land purchase. Probe will be conducted in all 230 villages where land were purchased or acquired for the project.
Our correspondent reports that newly appointed chairman of UP Expressways Industrial Development Authority Avneesh Awasthi has written letter to all 10 district magistrates associated with the project to return the unused fund of the project to the government immediately and submit a detailed report about land acquisition, payments of compensation and price paid to the farmers in purchasing the land for the project. Government had purchased about 3500 hectare land from above 30,450 farmers in different districts for the project.
The project cost about 11,526 crore rupees. Compensation and costs of lands are not included in the project cost.
Yogi Government has received several complaints about irregularities into purchase of land and payments of land compensation. It was alleged that several people were paid arbitrary cost of their land and it was done only to oblige them.
