UDF candidate PK Kunhalikutty wins Malappuram Lok Sabha bypoll

In Kerala, Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) General Secretary P K Kunhalikutty of Congress led UDF has won the Malappuram Lok Sabha seat in the by-poll held on 12th of this month.

He defeated his nearest CPI (M) rival M B Faizal by more than 1 lakh 70 thousand votes. Kunhalikutty, who maintained lead in all the seven assembly constituencies since the counting began, garnered 5,15,325 votes as against Faizal’s 3,44,287 votes. Bharatiya Janata Party candidate N Sree Prakash secured 65,662 votes.

UDF has retained the seat as it was vacated after the demise of IUML veteran leader E. Ahamed.
