Telangana State Assembly has passed three key bills including one on prevention of dangerous activities. Amidst opposition protest, the State Assembly passed the Telangana Prevention of Dangerous Activities of Bootleggers, Dacoits, Drug Offenders, Goondas, Immoral traffic offenders and Land grabbers (Amendment) Bill, 2017.

The bill seeks replacement of the ordinance that the Government passed about 6 months ago. Alleging that the Government failed in bringing down the crimes, opposition Congress and BJP members staged a walk out. However, Home Minister N Narasimha Reddy refuted the allegations and said illegal activities had come down after the ordinance came into force. He said the police are able to invoke PD act to check illegal activities after the Ordinance was issued.

The Assembly also passed the Telangana Road Development Corporation (Amendment) Bill, 2017 for development of roads and highways by securing funds from financial institutions and the Shops an Establishments (Amendment) Act, 2017 to give instant licences to shops and commercial establishments as part of Ease of Doing Business.
