SC relieves SIT chief R K Raghavan to probe 2002 Gujarat riots

The Supreme Court today allowed the request of Special Investigation Team, SIT Chief R K Raghavan to be relieved from duty of heading the team probing Gujarat riots cases. Appreciating work done by the SIT, the court also allowed another SIT member K Venkatesam to leave the team.

The Apex Court has asked A K Malhotra, another member of the court-appointed SIT to oversee functioning of the team. It also asked him to continue filing quarterly status report about the progress in the cases in the apex court.
